The Economic Poker Table
It seems the stock market is going down again. It is a gamble, just like poker, so I don’t think people can complain too much. Much like poker, you have to know when to hold’em and know when to fold’em. That is why it is still possible for people to become very rich even during this time of trouble. It will take patience, research, and timing, but it is very possible to come out on top if you have that talent. I have followed stocks for a number of years, was a part of a stock club for a while, but never actually spent real cash on it yet. I have also been playing poker for a few years now, so I honestly do see a parallel. I am not saying people should spend their last dime in a risky environment. If, however, they have some money saved, don’t be afraid of the present economic problems. This is the time for those with some will, patience, and smarts to get ahead. But just be sure you are paying attention to the economic news, just like the key in poker is watching your opponents.
