Palin At The Republican Governors Association Meeting

Published by ragged316 at 3:09 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Sarah Palin spoke at the Republican Governors Association meeting today in Miami. She admitted the obvious weakness that the Republicans are now in, and the powerful support the new President will have, calling the GOP the “minority party”. She criticized Obama at a few points, and pointed out that the Republicans must not be passive now, as they try to refocus. The future, for her, is the next year, then 2010, and the last thing on her list is the race in 2012. The 2010 elections will see 36 governors’ positions at stake, and that will be a battlefield for the Republicans to regain some footing.

Palin, of course, did not totally rule out the possibility of running for the presidency. On the contrary, she has proven that she is willing to take a leadership role in the weakened Republican party. That will not hurt her when it comes time for the Republicans to decide a candidate. At the same time, however, the Governors she was speaking to earlier today comprise of several hungry candidates, including Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. The vocal consensus, which was voiced by Palin and Barbour, is that now is not the time to think about something so far in the future. So they may say and agree about openly, but how many are already planning their speech to announce their candidacy?
